Liane Grunberg Wakabayashi

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text][/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”3/4″][vc_column_text]Liane holds an MFA in arts administration from Columbia University in New York and a BA magna cum laude in art history from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Liane’s original techniques for training artists can be traced to her art history background, which led her to journalism, writing about artists, and to discovering the wonders of art exhibitions in Tokyo department stores. A trip to Japan in 1987 was the beginning of her thirty-year life in Tokyo, where she married, raised her two children, and came intuitively upon the techniques and philosophy known as Genesis Art.

Liane began painting on her 36th birthday on August 25th, when she was still a freelance journalist. She has been painting, drawing, and exhibiting ever since. The Genesis Cards are taken from Liane’s sketchbooks and canvases done over a twelve-year period. They were published bilingually in English and Japanese as The Genesis Way, a deck of cards with a guidebook, in 2008. About this time, she opened her first art studio, Genesis art Lounge, where she developed the 12-session Genesis Art Foundation course in English and Japanese. Liane has exhibited widely in Japan, won awards for her artwork, and since 2017 has made Jerusalem her home.

Liane currently offers Genesis Art sessions on Zoom, online private sessions, and Genesis Art Teacher Training, and leads a highly-trained team of teachers who are qualified to introduce Genesis Art Workshops in Japan, and teach the 12-session Genesis Art Foundation course. [/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space][vc_separator][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

Hatsumi Tonegawa teaches Genesis Art Workshops in Shizuoka.  She graduated from Shizuoka University, where she majored in education for handicapped children.  She entered an advertising agency, where she worked as a designer for five years. In 1995, Hatsumi became independent and opened her own graphic design, illustration, and book-making office. From 2015 to 2018, she took the Art Management course at Shizuoka University and studied art, music, and contemporary dance. Hatsumi: “While I had been successful in my work as a designer, I had been dealing with mental challenges for a long time through my family and parenting. So, I was attracted to Genesis Art.  I was surprised that hope and energy came back to me after I started doing the art exercises with the Genesis Cards.  As a Genesis Art teacher, I want to help people relax, feel balanced, get in a good mood, and live with a sense of fulfillment. I look forward to spreading seeds of love widely and vigorously teaching Genesis Art workshops to individuals and groups.”

Yayoi Ono     Yayoi Ono

Yayoi Ono was born in Tokyo in 1959. While studying at Waseda University, her view of life and death changed drastically after one year of world-wide travels, opening up her interest in a wide variety of cultures, arts, and spiritual practices around the world. Yayoi established Gaia Light Crystal in 1986 and went on to establish Nijinowa, a crystal shop and workshop space in central Tokyo, where she ran an art circle, offered thermal therapy, and designed jewelry. In the 1990s and 2000s, Yayoi studied hypnosis and various esoteric teachings in Tokyo. She was certified as an art therapist from the Center of Art & Wellness in Tokyo in 2009, and since moving to the mountains of Nagano in 2011, she has dedicated her life to living in harmony with the natural world and to various art projects. Yayoi received her certification as a Genesis Art Teacher in 2020.

Yayoi: “Everybody is a born artist. For me, art is a fascinating process of alchemy and soul transformationthat brings you into a space where one can meet your own subconscious awareness.

Through art, when we let go of the present moment, with heart, like a  newborn child, no matter what is happening in our life, a  magical and miraculous door full of joy and surprise will open for us.

Shoko Uchiya     Shoko Uchiya

Shoko Uchiya was born in Nagasaki City, Japan. She moved to France while in university and immersed herself in the culture and lifestyle, in Paris and while traveling in various parts of Europe. After returning to Japan, she worked at a publishing company,  involved in editing specialized cooking and lifestyle magazines and fashion magazines. Shoko left the company when her first child was born. She dedicated herself to the education of her children, with their rich personalities. In her search for creative expression in educating people outside the boundaries of roles and conventions, she discovered Genesis Art. In 2008, soon after the opening of Genesis Art Lounge in Tokyo, Shoko was among Liane’s first students. Since 2012, she has been creating and exhibiting works of art using flowers as a motif to express her worldview. Based on her own experience, she became certified as a Genesis Art instructor with a desire to help people achieve balance in their minds and bodies.

Shoko: “Genesis Art Workshops promote change directly at the soul level. Just as quality counseling encourages one’s own inner sorting out of a confused and tired mind, or the abilities that Oriental Medicine and osteopaths offer to help people function in a more balanced way, Genesis Art can do the same. Each person has their own unique creative talents. That inner energy can be sublimated or it can be encouraged to flare up, visible as a bright and vibrant aura that surrounds you and your art. Awakening your inner creativity, your own energy, brings awareness of your true self, with more hope and light. Genesis Art workshops offer a precise process for that creative energy that all people have within to express. The lessons provide a practical methodology. It is far beyond relaxation and healing. Rest is certainly necessary. But the moments when people are truly alive is not in stillness. When your creative power is flowing well, you can clearly grasp the feeling alive.”
